Mid-Century Lake House
When our clients were moving back from Hawaii they wanted a home with a view and this beauty doesn’t disappoint. They found this mid-century style with a view of Lake Washington and jumped on the chance to be back in the PNW where they originally grew up. However, this place had been owned by the same couple for over 30 years and so it needed some restoration to bring back it’s original roots.
What started as partial changes turned into a massive overhaul. A once covered carport had been converted to the main living room in the 1970’s and we had been told by the realtor that the room had hardwoods throughout. When we pulled the carpet we found that it was original car decking and with a slope to originally shed water. After days of leveling and furring out the floor space to be able to accept hardwoods, as well as multiple patches in most of the upstairs rooms we were able to refinish them all.
We re-painted most of the upstairs spaces, added in missing mouldings, hung new solid doors, built out a new closet, opened up the basement, brought in overhead lighting, custom walnut shelving, new carpet, new laminate floors, unpacked them and furnished the entire space, including decorating for Christmas. They were able to move in the day before Christmas Eve and enjoy it with family.
